Another Celestial Event Will Be Visible in Colorado Tonight – The Transit of Venus

If you are like me and missed the solar eclipse earlier this month, or you just couldn't get enough of it, you are in luck. No, it's not another solar eclipse, but a much more rare celestial event actually. The so-called transit of Venus will be on display for Coloradans tonight.

Venus will journey across the surface of the sun blocking a tiny circle of light as it goes.

The transit of Venus occurs in patterns of eight years followed by 121.5 years, followed by eight years again, and then 105.5 years. Venus crossed the sun eight years ago, so the next transit won't occur until Dec. 11, 2117.

Don't throw those disposable eclipse-watching glasses away. They can be used to view tonight's transit, which will start around 4 p.m. and last through sunset in Colorado.
