Weather forecasters say that it could be the worst hurricane to hit the United States since Katrina almost 7 years to the date. Hurricane Isaac has already caused the Republican National Convention to be delayed and Alabama, Florida, Mississippi and Louisiana have all declared states of emergency with Isaac looming. Our thoughts and prayers are with those to the south, but Isaac could also affect us.

No, we won't see 100 mile per hour winds, the rain, or the tsunamis, but we could see a rise in gas prices. It's entirely within the realm of possibility that we see refinery outages, oil production losses, and gasoline supply issues in the south which could in turn cause a hike in gas prices around the rest of the U.S.

Fort Collins gas prices were averaging $3.46 per gallon on Sunday, 27 cents cheaper than the national average of $3.73, but they are higher than this time last year and a month ago.

Wednesday is the the seventh anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, which devastated the same area in 2005. Nearly 2,000 people died as a result of Katrina, which also destroyed swathes of the city.

Our good vibes are being sent south!
