Larimer County Fair Starts TODAY!

The 2012 Larimer County Fair & Rodeo kicks off today (August 3rd) at The Ranch Events Complex in Loveland and runs through Tuesday. This years fair truly has something for everyone from classic fair events like the livestock show, rodeo, and carnival, to less traditional fair events such as the Gnarly Barley Brew Festival, a magic show, and the Sweetheart Balloon Rally.

The Fair makes for a great family outing as it is always free to attend and park. The Fair opens tomorrow at 4pm, runs through the weekend and wraps up Tuesday night.

Traditional fair activities include members of the largest 4-H club program in Colorado sharing their talents during the Larimer County 4-H show. More than 50 projects from 51 clubs will be displayed, including topics such as bicycle, cake decorating, electrics, global citizenship, heritage arts, leadership, photography and woodworking. Of course, included in the lists of projects are the traditional livestock projects, as well as foods and clothing. Carnival Americana is one of America’s leading producers of carnival midways. The midway will be on-site from Carnival Americana. The company offers the best in amusement rides, games, and food concessions. Finally, The PRCA Rodeo kicks off at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Budweiser Events Center. Rodeo competition continues through Tuesday at the center. Nontraditional fair activities this year include movies taking place in The Ranch Courtyard at Dusk on Monday and Tuesday night. Movies: Monday: “Up” Tuesday: “Puss in Boots”. Back by popular demand, Splash Dogs! Splash Dogs is a nationally recognized company that organizes and promotes dock jumping events across the United States. Stunts, tricks and high-powered entertainment for the whole family! Since 2003, Play with Gravity has traveled the country promoting the sport of Motorials; A motorcycle competition series in which riders have to overcome obstacles on their motorcycles using control, balance and finesse. Extreme Illusions will also be at the Fair with a high energy mix of illusions, escapes, theater, comedy and audience participation for a magical performance incomparable to other entertainers." Completely made out of glass, kids can see over 2,000 trout react to the bait during their fishing session all while learning about catch and release practices. The Sweetheart Balloon Rally, Gnarly Barley Brew Fest, live music, a petting zoo, and much more will also be at this years Larimer County Fair!
