One week from today one of the most anticipated magazines of the year comes out... Maxim's "Hot 100" issue. This is the first year in the history of the list that Maxim got readers involved as well. As a result, there were some surprises. But how can you go wrong with a good, clean pictures of 100 beautiful ladies? Well, there was one slip up in my opinion. But it sure wasn't with who was chosen #1,! Who do you think is the most beautiful woman in the world?

26-year-old Israeli model, Bar Refaeli made the number one spot for 2012. That Refaeli ranked No. 1 does show that Maxim has a global reach, says Maxim editor Dan Bova, who has been with the magazine since 2008. Sure, she's famous for modeling spreads including the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issues, but she's not someone with a big blockbuster movie coming up this summer either, Bova explains. "She is a familiar face, but she is a little bit unexpected," he says. "She's at this incredible level right now where she's about to become even bigger."

As for the slip up... With readers a part of the process, for the first year a man and a cartoon made it on the list. Stephen Colbert ranked at number 69 and Lois Griffin from Family Guy made 85th rank. That takes away two spots that are supposed to be reserved for beautiful woman, but On the Maxim website it states: “Our fellow Americans: As we’re reminded every four years, democracy is the cornerstone upon which our great land is built. That’s why this year, for the first time in "Hot 100" history, we let you, the readers of Maxim, weigh in on who should comprise the definitive list of the world’s most beautiful women. From movie stars to murder suspects to a cartoon, here are the sexy results. God bless America!”

The top three for the Maxim Hot 100 list is Mila Kunis ranked in the number three spot with Olivia Munn ahead of her in number two. The top ten is rounded out by Katy Perry, Olivia Wilde, Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, Megan Fox, Malin Akerman and Adrianne Palicki. See the whole list here.
