This fall, Nike will introduce the tenth LeBron James pair of signature basketball shoes:  LeBron James X.  Sure, the name of the shoe fits, but does the price tag?  Last year's LeBron 9s went for $170.  This year's shoe will featured 'Nike +' technology- a computer chip that tracks your vertical leap and other things.  This new shoe will retail for a staggering $315. Shoppers WILL be able to buy the shoe WITHOUT the Nike+ technology for $170. What's crazy, is that the numbers show that people will and DO pay these high prices for shoes-

Nike's basketball division saw a 17% increase in year-over-year revenue from May 2011 to May 2012. Nike footwear in North America saw a 15% increase in revenue in that same period. In addition to those increases, we've seen high-profile specialty shoes like the Air Yeezy II's sell out in minutes despite their high sticker price.

So, there IS a market out there for these upper echelon shoes- but at what price?
